Affidavit to enable a child to travel to South Africa
In June 2015 the South African authorities changed the rules regarding the travel of children into and out of South Africa without both parents being with them.
I have had several clients over the last two years who have not been allowed to travel on their flights as they did not have the correct paperwork.
An affidavit of consent to travel, which can be downloaded from the South African Government website www.dha.gov.za/files/ParentalConsentAffidavit.pdf needs to be completed by both parents. I then need to see both parents with their passports, the child’s passport and the child’s full birth certificate. The affidavit must be completed and sworn before me as a notary public and the documents certified as copy documents to enable the sole parent or other person to travel to and from South Africa with the child.
